About our contemporary classes

Contemporary dance is a creative and expressive style that develops strength, flexibility, and musicality for dancers of all ages. At our studio, this style is taught as a blend of Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, and Lyrical styles. Classes are taught by a qualified instructor with a SABOD (South African Body of Dance) qualification in modern dance.

Modern Dance

A technical style of dance that focuses on controlled movement, alignment, and foundational technique.

Jazz Dance

A dynamic style that incorporates rhythm, coordination, and stylised movement often seen in performance and stage work.

Lyrical Dance

A style that combines elements of ballet and contemporary dance, focusing on fluid movement and interpretation of music.

Contemporary Dance

A broad and evolving style that brings together elements of different techniques, allowing for expressive and versatile movement.

Age groups & levels

Mini Modern (ages 5 – 7)

A fun and engaging introduction to modern and contemporary styles, helping younger dancers build coordination, musicality, and confidence.

Junior Modern (ages 7 – 9)

Dancers continue to develop technique and strength while exploring more structured movement and combinations.

Senior Modern (ages 10 – 13)

At this level, dancers build on technique, flexibility, and expression, developing greater control and performance ability.

Adult Contemporary

We currently offer a once-a-week adult contemporary class, open to all levels. This class focuses on expressive movement, musicality, and flow, in a fun and enjoyable environment.

Jaden is our brilliant studio assistant and a beloved teacher of acrobatics, lyrical, contemporary, and modern. As Sarah’s right hand, she is an essential part of everything we do, helping the studio run smoothly while nurturing and challenging our dancers to grow. With a background in ballet and contemporary, Jaden discovered her passion for acrobatics and lyrical at a young age. She began competing at 14, representing South Africa internationally, and has gone on to achieve outstanding success both as a dancer and teacher. Jaden has trained multiple dancers to world titles and continues to inspire excellence in every class. She also serves as a respected judge in lyrical and acro competitions, bringing valuable insight into performance and technique. A qualified modern dance teacher through SABOD, Jaden brings passion, precision, and care to every class. Her commitment to her students and love for dance make her a role model in the studio and an invaluable part of our team.
